The season began with a upset for the Pleasureland sponsored Fleetwood Hesketh Juniors on Monday, with the under 18's going for a hat trick of titles, they went to Rufford expecting to start the season with a good victory.

Batting first Rufford scored a reasonable total of 80 which was always in the reach of Fleetwood, however after a good start poor shots and silly batting saw the inning collaspe, ending two runs short with only Neil Pike (40) scoring any runs.

A bad start to the season.

    On Wednesday the under 15's went to S & B,batting first S & B scored 130 for the loss of no wickets,L Armstrong (56) & David Smith (48).

This was mainly due to a mixture of poor bowling and fielding after what was a good start,in reply Fleetwood could only manage 90 runs off their overs, with Andrew Watts (61) being top scorer and Josh Hine reducing the Fleetwood innings early on taking three of the top four batters with his fine bowling.

The following evening the under 13's entertained New Victoria in a excellent match, batting first New Victoria scored 58 with Sam Mccormack (11no) being their top scorer, all Fleetwoods bowlers bowled well and the fielding was excellent with Conor Allison getting 2 wickets with his leg spin.

In reply Fleetwood could only manage 48 with Phil Williams (13) and debutant Tom Rigby (7) being top scorers, all players batted well, but just have to learn to score at a faster pace in future which will see them wins more games than they will lose.

With no league match on Monday for the Pleasureland sponsored Fleetwood Hesketh Juniors under 18's they travelled on Tuesday to Tarleton for the first round of the cup.

Batting first Tarleton scored 80 for 4 with Mark Rimmer taking 3 wickets at the end of the innings and tight accurate bowling by the other bowlers,in reply Fleetwood scored the required runs for the loss of one wicket in just seven overs due to a fine (32 no) by Neil Pike & (28no) by Andrew Watts.

On Thursday the under 13's travelled to Formby for which due to the short boundary's is always a high scoring match.

Batting first Formby scored 158 for 2 with three batsmen all scoring half centuries,T Simpson (54) D Gallagher (50no) and L Houghton( 53no),in reply Fleetwood set of at the right pace with Stuart Dolman scoring 36,but a mid innings slow down meant they failed to reach their target finishing on 102 for 2.

Conor Allison scored (31no) along with taking both Formby's wickets when bowling.

Bbeing asked to bat first Rainford were dismissed for 46 with Shaun Foster taking 5 wickets.

In reply Fleetwood quickly knocked of the required total for the loss of 3 wickets,Stephem Williams top scoring (23 no).

On Wednesday the under 15' s travelled to S & B for a Cup match.

Batting first S & B scored a fine 160 with L Armstrong (60) & D Smith (54) scoring most of the runs, this was not only good batting, but the result of the worst bowling & fielding display seen for a number of years.

In reply Fleetwood could only manage 96 runs with A Watts(22) & and excellent (31) from James Entwhistle.

On Thursday the under 13's also travelled to S & B,but with 7 players missing due to holidays only had 10 players.

S & B again batted first and scored 174 with R Metcalfe 93 not out being the best batsman again poor bowling and fielding let Fleetwood down.

In reply Fleetwood only managed 43 runs, but credit must go to young Michael Howarth who on making his debut showed the older players how to bat & bowl.

At 12 runs for 5 wkts after 3 overs the Pleasureland sponsored Fleetwood Hesketh Junior under 18's must have thought that history was going to repeat itself after their surprise defeat against Rufford on the opening day of the season.

On Monday evening they entertained Rufford again and contrived to beat that performance, however an excellent sixth wicket stand of 85 between Andrew Watts (59 no) and Daniel Card (27) put them back on the right track and they eventually finished on 134 for 9, Jack Nickson taking 4 for 31 for Rufford.

In reply Rufford attempted to reach the total but were all out for 97 with all the bowlers sharing the wickets.

On Friday evening he under 13's travelled the short distance to New Victoria, batting first New Vic scored 113 with Jack Sawbridge scoring 46.

In reply Fleetwood could only manage to reach 67 all out with only Tom Rigby (21) showing any resistance and not throwing his wicket away.

Another disappointing display by the team with the fielding again being shown to be sub standard.

A disappointing week for the Pleasureland sponsored Fleetwood Hesketh Juniors began on Monday night when the under 18's entertained S & B.

Batting first Fleetwood could only managed 97 off the allocated 20 overs wih Stephem Williams top scoring with 23,this was never going to be enough and so it was proved with S & B passing the target with three overs to spare with no batsman making any great score.

Fleetwood did manage to take 6 wickets with two pieces of great fielding resulting in excellent run outs.

On Wednesday the under 15's also eneteratinded S & B and after making a excellent start with Andrew Watts scoring a quick 51,the rest of the innings didn't match up and Fleetwood ended on 112.

In reply S & B started slowly losing a couple of wickets, but with Josh Hine still at the wicket were always in with a shout and so it proved with him finishing on 72 not out effectively winning the match for S & B,with the assistance of some poor bowling by some of the Fleetwood bowlers.

The following night Rainford came to Sea Cop for the under 13's match and batting first scored a reasonable 86 with D Christian ( 30no).

The highlight for Fleewtwood was Jack Audsley's 4 for 6 runs off 2 overs,in reply Fleetwood struggled to maintain the required scoring with batsman throwing wickets away going for big hits.

Only at the end with Jack Audsley (14) Steve Gregory(10) did they appear to be able to reach the target, but both being out in consecutive balls ended any hope and they finished on 74 all out.

The week began for the Pleasureland sponsored Fleetwood Hesketh Juniors with a cup match for the under 18's at home against Maghull.

With a number of players missing they managed to reach 114 of the 16 overs bowled.

Neil Pike to scoring with 29,in reply Maghull reached the required total of 15 overs, mainly due to some wayward bowling in the second half of the innings and a fine 39 not out by M Whelan turning the balance of the match in their favour.

On Thursday night the under 13's played Formby at home and batting first Formby managed 74 after fime bowling by the Fleetwood bowlers mainly Conor Allison 3 for 4 and Steve Gregory 3 for 10.

Only M Locke managed double figures for the visitors with 17,in reply Formby took the first 3 wickets for the loss of 6 runs and Fleetwood were at the point of collapse, however a fine stand betwwen Tom Rigby (10) and Jack Audsley (28) rescued the situation and eventually they manged to secure the win by 2 wickets.

The week began on Monday for the Pleasureland sponsored Fleetood Hesketh Juniors with a visit to Burscough for the under 18's.

Batting first they amassed a respectable 156,the openng partnership of 110 between Neil Pike (55) & Daniel Card (43) setting them on their way.

However that was the highlight of the day because Burscough replied passed that score with 2 overs to spare, thanks to N Fairclough 93 not out & L Berrie 52 not out, excellent batting assisted by poor bowling.

On Thursday the under 13's travelled to Southport Trinity and and played an excellent and competative game of cricket.

Batting first Trinity scored a reasonable 116 with B taylor (24) & L Simms (22) top scoring for the home side,in reply Fleetwood set off at a good pace but losing wickets kept them just out of reach of the total.

A late rally by Craig Mathews (19) and Steve Gregory (14 no) gave them hope but they finished 20 runs short, both teams played well with Trinity just edging the match.
