You had on the corner of Mill Road and Segars Lane,Nick and Betty Wardens corner shop.
Heathfield Road shops, have changed an awful lot now, over the years.
As soon as I saw the thread title about the corner shop, the first thing I thought of was Warden's shop on the corner of Segars Lane. I was born and spent the first 8 years of my life in Segars Lane. Betty Warden was like an additional auntie to all the children in the area, and still remembered me even when i'd grown up and moved to another part of the town

Anyone remember when Comet was on Marshside Road (where the co-op is now) then they moved to Lord Street opposite the Fire station, where FarmFoods is.

Not being a Sandgrounder I didn't feel entitled to contribute to this thread before. Let's face it, who on here would want to know about a corner shop elsewhere than in Southport!
However, after MG's reply above about Comet...and this isn't about a shop, but... does anyone remember a doctor's surgery on Marshside Rd ?
My neighbour told me my house used to be a doctor's surgery about 20 years ago, and it'd explain the unusual layout of the house. Would be interesting to me if anyone on here has any memories of it.

I remember there being two shops either side of the entrance to the Moulin Rouge. There was Tinks on the right, and a hairdressers on the left. I used to walk past there every day on my way home from Sacred Heart school and never once saw anyone in the hairdressers! Tinks, I remember, had a black and white tiled floor like a chessboard, and was always rather dark inside.....
