The team at Woodlands have had a first this week with caring for a pig! Woodlands Animal Sanctuary have not taken pigs before and have only done so on this occasion as a one off. Woodlands are regularly approached to take in various animals, but often are unable to accept due to different reasons. Woodlands aim to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome or release the animals they take in, and if they are not able to this successfully then they will not accept an animal in the first place.
Peppa, came to the sanctuary when her family moved house and they were unable to take her with them. There was a potential home lined up for her, but this has not come to fruition and so once Peppa has had all her relevant medical checks she will be looking for her own loving forever home. Although not looking for a comfy sofa to curl up on someone’s knee like the cats often are, Peppa is looking for a home with the space to take her, ideally with another pig, as they are sociable animals.
This new experience for the team has been an exciting one and everyone has relished the learning curve, however, the ideal is for Peppa to move on, to find her own loving home.
The charity has also recently taken in 12 male guinea pigs, all of which will be looking for their forever loving home once they have been neutered. As guinea pigs are such sociable animals Woodlands will only rehome them in minimum of pairs, or ideally in a 3. Unless, you already have guinea pigs at home.
If you would like to find out more information about any of the animals available for rehoming from Woodlands Animal Sanctuary you can visit their website:
www.woodlandsanimalsacntuary.org.uk or call the team on: 01704 823293. As is their policy, Woodlands do require a monetary contribution when animals are taken for rehoming. This is to cover part of the cost of that animal to the sanctuary.
