A man and woman were stabbed as a gang of four men stormed their home at around 8.25pm on Thursday and a police investigation is now underway to find those responsible.
Detective Chief Inspector Gayle Rooney said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Arbour Street area last night who saw anyone or anything suspicious to contact us.
A 24-year-old woman was stabbed in the arm and both were taken to hospital for treatment
The man, 26, suffered a puncture wound to his face when the men forced their way into the property on Arbour Street, Southport.
One of the men involved is described as white, approximately 18-year-old, 5ft 6in tall and of slim build. All four males had their faces covered.
Merseyside Police say house-to-house, CCTV and forensic enquiries are all being carried out in the local area.
