Detectives are appealing for witnesses following the stabbing of a teenager at Crosby Marina this afternoon, Friday 19 April.


At 5.45pm emergency services were called to Crosby Marine Park in Waterloo to reports that a 14-year-old male had been stabbed, sustaining what were initially assessed as superficial wounds to his leg and stomach. The offender made off prior to police arrival and enquiries are ongoing to trace them.
The victim was treated at the scene and has now been taken to hospital for assessment.
Detectives will remain at the scene to carry out witness, forensic and CCTV enquiries and speak to the public.
Detective Inspector Paul Parry said: “We initially believe that this was a targeted attack, and one which thankfully appears to have resulted in minor injuries. In these early stages we are looking to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw anyone running off. This happened at the far side of the lake as you walk from the sand dunes. If you were here, let us know and check your devices for any inadvertent recording on phones of those involved. It could be vital.
“Given the victim’s age and the open location on a warm, public holiday, I understand the concern that this incident will cause amongst people who live, work and visit the area.
“My assurance to them is that, like all violent crime, we will be doing everything possible to identify those responsible and put them before the courts. Knife crime can and does have awful consequences for victims, perpetrators and their families and we will act on all you know to take these people and their weapons off the streets.”
