The Swan Restaurant on Stanley Street received a new alcolade this week when National Geographic named the Swan as one of the top 9 Fish and Chip shops in the UK.

Southport’s oldest fish and chip restaurant has been run by the Defty family for 45 years. Fish and potatoes are locally sourced where possible and, while the menu lacks modern curveballs, it does the classics well enough to have inspired passions across the town. And at very moderate prices too.

I go there 2/3 times a week, the staff are friendly the food IS consistently the best I’ve ever had, the fish is super fresh and the chips are done just right and burning hot.The restaurant is always clean and it’s no surprise to me that it’s one of the best in the UK.
