There is a strong police presence in Freshfield and Formby this afternoon, due to the large numbers heading towards the beach. When the National Trust Car Park is full, road closures will be put in place and traffic diverted.
Vehicles parked illegally will be issued with fixed penalty fines and may be removed of causing an obstruction.
Temporary 'one way' systems may be in operation, staffed by officers on the road closures.
People coming to the beach are reminded that there is a Public Space Protection Order preventing alcohol being taken on to the beach at Formby and Ainsdale. Alcohol may be seized and fixed penalty's issued to those who breach the order.
Barbecues are also banned from the Sefton Coastline.
This police activity will continue for the coming days.
