A spokesperson for Elan Homes said: “Elan Homes and our contractors have been working to minimise the impact of works at our Balmoral Gardens site to local residents. Unfortunately, due to a number of reasons including unforeseen ground conditions, unprecedented weather and Covid-19 related staff shortages, the demolition programme has been extended.

The specialist contractors have also had to change working practices to comply with ever-changing Covid-19 Safe Working Guidance, as well as switching to the use of less efficient machinery to minimise the noise and vibrations during the works.

“All works have met full regulatory compliance and Environmental Health officials from Sefton Council have been closely monitoring works to ensure all approved method statements were being followed.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and delays that have occurred whilst working through the ongoing pandemic. The demolition phase is now nearing completion and we hope work can start on the delivery of much-needed new homes on the development in the next month. Construction work is likely to be ongoing for the next two or three years, but we will work to mitigate the impact to our neighbours.”
