Specialising in French cuisine, Bistrot Pierre opened a few years ago, in place of our iconic Russell and Bromley corner store.
Bistrot Pierre is a chain of around 19 restaurants in the UK.
Claire Kelly gives her honest view:
I went to this restaurant for the first time last night, after wanting to visit for a while- driving past and seeing diners in the windows; it always looked inviting!
The interior is really beautiful, especially upstairs in the private area, and also ( yes I have to mention!), the toilets which are really lovely and actually a feature - each one is individual along a pretty corridor!
Onto the food! The starter of chicken pate was definitely tasty, although three tiny pieces of bread were not enough for the amount of pate.
There was a long wait for the second course, and it was difficult to get the attention of the staff for drinks. It seemed only a couple of young servers were on shift.
However, the ‘pulled pork with bacon, mashed potato and vegatables’ was lovely. I could not fault the pork itself, but it was served with just one carrot, a couple of green beans and a limited amount of mashed potato so I was left still hungry. Not a lot for £15.95.
We had to go to the bar to ask for the dessert menu, which was then brought to our table but it was the afternoon tea menu. Another trip to the bar to ask for the right menu.
I ordered crème brûlée which was a large bowl of it, not very well presented. Having said that though the chocolate fudge cake was a real winner.
Verdict: Bistrot Pierre is a lovely venue with nice food but they need to improve their service and be more generous with the vegetables in my opinion!

Better than the previous efforts, but if you want good French food, remember Bistrot Pierre is a chain.
I am pretty sure stuff is pre-prepared and portion control is managed.
If you want good and original French food, try Bistro Verite ( though expensive and busy) or Chez Moi ( simple, good, great value). The revived Auberge is up there too.
If Clare is busy I'd be happy to fill in for her.
