Southport welcome Scarborough Athletic to the Pure Stadium for the Second Round Qualifying of the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday.

Liam Watson’s side have fond memories of the competition from last year, where they reached the second round before being knocked out by Tranmere Rovers in a replay.

The Port will head into this game with confidence, after a good run of form in the last few games, with their most recent result being a 2-0 victory over Blyth Spartans.

This weekend’s opponents, Scarborough Athletic, currently ply their trade in the Northern Premier League Premier Division.

It is the first time Southport will have played the current Scarborough, who were formed in 2007 after the demise of the previous club.

After finishing in eighth position last season, John Deacey’s side have started this campaign slowly, currently sitting in 17th on six points.

There has been a lack of a winning edge for The Seadogs, with only one victory.

Meanwhile they have drawn three and lost three, and will hope an FA Cup victory could act as a booster.

To reach the second qualifying round, Scarborough needed a replay against Marske United.

After initially drawing 1-1 at home, the Seadogs came away 2-1 winners in the away game to seal their place in the next round.

Southport will be hoping to avoid any banana skins and put in a similar run to last year.
