After last week’s setback at York City, Southport return home as they prepare to face Hereford and get themselves back onto winning ways with four games of the season to play.

The 1-0 defeat at Bootham Crescent leaves Southport 16th in Vanarama National League North, one place and one point behind this weekend’s visitors.

The Bulls enter this game unbeaten in their last three matches, drawing twice and winning once.

Their game on Tuesday night at Alfreton Town ended in a 1-1 draw, after Tim Harris’ side was pegged back 11 minutes after taking the lead.

Finding a winning edge has been an issue for Hereford, emerging with maximum points from only five of their 16 games in 2019.

Meanwhile they have drawn eight and lost three of their games since the turn of the year.

Throughout the whole season The Whites have drawn on 14 occasions, a record higher than any other team except Guiseley.

Hereford’s current top scorer in the league is Roman Liburd with 13 goals, but 12 of them came for Guiseley, only scoring once since signing for the Bulls in January.

The true goal threat for Hereford in 2019 has been Tom Owen-Evans, who has seven to his name from midfield this year.

When these two sides met back in November, it was a comprehensive victory for the Port.

Dion Charles, Dean Winnard and Jordan Archer were all on target in the 3-0 win as Southport’s long unbeaten league run was only just beginning.

With less than a month left of this season, both sides will look to finish on a high note, as Southport will look towards pushing for next year and Hereford aim to end a solid first year in National League North.
