“Ive now reached just over £1000!“ says Jacky. “Thank you to everyone who has made this happen. Ive still got a long way to go, but im getting there.”

Jacky, from Ainsdale has been been asked a few times, Why Crimestoppers?

The reason being that Jacky’s nephew, Stephen, was a victim of a horrific stabbing attack in Southport last year.

Steven Cartwright’s life was changed forever when 16-year-old Jamal Adam-Neale stabbed him in a spontaneous attack with a piece of glass in Southport, down Scarisbrick Avenue.

Stephen was left with 74 staples in his body and the attack unfortunately continues to have devastating affects on his life.

“Steven Cartwright was out in Southport with family and friends last year when he was slashed by teen Jamal Adam-Neale in the early hours of August 23rd after an argument started between them.”

Liverpool Crown Court heard in the trial how the stab wound to Mr Cartwright’s stomach went 14 centimetres into his body.

“Luckily, the angle meant it was not an immediately life-threatening injury but the damage to part of his bowel meant it had to be removed. He was unable to walk up stairs and had difficulty eating because of the extent of the injuries to his torso and back, where he was stabbed twice and spent a long time in hospital .” Says Jacky
Stephen, himself said: “I can’t walk the dog, I can’t go to darts, I can’t coach my son’s football team, I can’t ride my bike, I can’t do anything. I’m in too much pain and I’m too scared to leave the house now.”

“If it wasn’t for our amazing emergency services and the staff at the hospital saving my life, I wouldn’t be here to write this today.”

After this tragedy, Jacky set out to do something positive and chose to run the London Marathon for charity to raise money for Crime Stoppers.

Amazingly, so far Jacky has raised £1,120 of her target (which is £1750) with several auctions, raffles, a cake sale and is set to do the Ainsdale Show on Saturday, so is busy preparing hampers for her gazebo.

We wish Jacky all the best with her fundraising and especially for this Saturday and send lots of love to the family after this life changing event.
