In February we reported ... Sean Porter, 9 years old, from Southport, has been put forward for a nominee for a Child of Britain Award.
Many already know about Sean’s innovative app creation which he made when he was initially asked to produce a mobile game as part of a primary school project. Sean chose instead to create an app to support his six-year-old non verbal sibling, Adam, to communicate instead.
WELL HE DID WIN AN AWARD last night at the Grosvenor House, London in the Child of Britain Awards hosted by Eamonn Holmes.
Sean created an app to help his brother with autism non speaking, allowinghim to select from images to express his mind and wishes.

Claire Kelly of Southport Media spoke with mum Kelly about his award....
It was an amazing night for Sean when he was awarded the Young Leader Award at the Child of Great Britain Awards!
The young boy from Southport who attends ‘Our Lady Of Lourdes School’ in Birkdale, developed an app called “Speak With Sean” to help his non verbal autistic brother to communicate.
He was nominated for the award earlier this year and only now, last night has found out he has won the category!!
Sean’s mum, Kirsty told us,
“The evening was amazing,we travelled to Euston via train to the awards. There were quite a few soap stars there- I spoke to one or two and they were lovely!Sean also had his picture taken with Eamonn”
Kirsty has had to keep this a secret for quite a long time, and said on her Facebook “this has been the hardest thing to keep to myself! Words can’t describe how proud we are of him.”
Sean was interviewed on stage by Eamonn Holmes, and we have a clip from interview below. Sean’s story is also shown in the video, of how he developed the app and why.
What a credit to Southport Sean is!
We congratulate him on this success and send very best wishes to the family.
