Liverpool is presently 'served' by THREE Mayors as well as a Police and Crime Commissioner. These officers. all Labour, pocket from the Council Tax payers every year a quarter of a million pounds - in addition to much greater spending on their offices and political hangers-on. In contrast, Manchester only has only one elected mayor, Andy Burnham, who also acts as police commissioner.

Liberal Democrats have officially queried the legality of sudden hurried moves by Labour to scrap the Liverpool 'Spare Mayor' - which, only last month, Labour councillors were fighting to retain.

The Lib Dems always believed that placing all decision-making power into the hands of one individual is wrong. They opposed the introduction of the Elected Mayor in 2012 and have formally tried to remove the position on FIVE occasions since then. Labour's response was to work with the Tory government to create a further extra elected Mayor who now has powers covering Southport as well as Liverpool.

On 20th January this year, Labour kicked the most recent bid to scrap the Liverpool City Mayor - currently the suspended arrested Joe Anderson - into the long grass, saying that there was 'not enough time for consultation'. But now, in the face of interference in their selection process from the national Labour Party, local Labour bosses are trying to scrap the 'Elected Mayorality' before May's election with no consultation at all about what would replace it. The Labour Party has scrapped the agreed local shortlist of three women councillors in a bid to deny its party members the chance to vote for Anna Rothery who is backed by former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and Unite the Union.

The legality of such a move is being heavily questioned. Labour is well known in the North West for applying unlawful procedures for political gain. In 2008, Sefton Council Labour bosses, in cahoots with the Conservative council leader, were 90 per cent on their way to unlawfully replacing the former Chief Executive of Sefton Council Graham Heywood with their own hand-picked man before published legal advice exposed their 'pretend redundancy' wrongdoing and a proper process was brought in. This led to the appointment of Margaret Carney who led the Council for eleven years before she retired to be replaced by the present Chief Executive, Dwayne Johnson.

The Labour Party in Liverpool is one big gravy train, handing out vast sums of Council Tax Payers money for posts and positions that aren’t necessary or needed. There again, Labour thrives on waste.

Factual errors and malign intent of this item aside, there is of course reason to query the structure and effectiveness of local government.

TORIES OBSCENE SQUANDERING OF TAX PAYERS MONEY
As much as I despise the Daily Fail, some pretty interesting figures here.

‘Take for instance the tens of millions spent on generous 'golden goodbye' payouts — obscenely rushed through before a cap came into place.

Or the staggering £42 million banked in bonuses by some civil servants last year. Or the first-class flights and gourmet dining many have enjoyed when on official business.

Or the designer furniture we've funded for government staff who have had to operate from home. And let's not forget almost £50,000 on Filipino takeaways, the extravagant days out and even luxury handmade dog beds that we've stumped up for.

In all, the Mail has identified waste amounting to almost £5.6 billion.’

So you despise the Daily Mail, but when it prints something that suits your mantra, you’re more than happy to quote it. You’re as stupid as the cycling idiot that you’re all loved up with.

I did not know that the Liverpool Mayor covered Southport? Fat lot of good he has done for the town. Get rid of him!

The Labour Party, when rejecting the three female candidates said that it was because they were aware of the situation regarding Anderson and had said nothing - in which case they were unsuitable for the position. I would also argue that a large number of Liverpool Councillors were also aware of the situation, should they not go too? Far too many times, dubious activity within Liverpool Council has been published - it is time for a complete clean up. Put in a completely new interim Council.

Nope, I just know how much of a fascist you are and anything written in the Daily Fail will be treated as gospel by you. Plenty of other sources to post, highlighting the squandering and cronyism from clown boris’s party if you want to see them?
Such a shame you have to resort to personal insults again, but it’s probably just a sign of your insecurity and lack of intelligence. And your constant surmising about me being ‘all loved up’ with another poster on this site would suggest your repressing some deep down homosexual desires of your own. It’s ok, no need to hide your sexuality. It’s 2021, come out and be proud.

Labour is irrelevant at all levels, their out of touch and out of office for that reason.
Their followers are clinging on to a dream and with increasing bitterness realising it.

Sadly, where Southport is concerned, Labour is very relevant. Because the local electorate won’t vote in a Labour MP, Sefton’s Labour Councillors are on a mission to “teach us a lesson” by doing their utmost to destroy the Town.

He's also conveniently forgotten about Angela Rayner, Barry Gardiner etc.
