For too long we have witnessed crash after crash, injuries and lives lost at junctions on County Road; LCC can no longer just stand by repeating reviews and consultations.
Enough!
“Whatever the reason is, accidents are happening here and LCC need to reconfigure the junction layout to reduce or eliminate the problem even if that includes driver error.
“I have written to Lancashire County Council’s Chief Executive calling for immediate action to be taken to materially change this junction to improve the safety for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians, who are put at risk every day.”

Never had a problem at that junction, Maybe it's because I don't jump lights, and actually look at the road ahead?

I've been through that junction tens of thousands of times. Never had a problem.

Perhaps Ms Cooper could put forward a specific redesign of the junction, including costs and duration of works, that she believes will be safer and acceptable to the surrounding residents & commercial users whilst still allowing a consistent flow of traffic through what is a main arterial road crossed by access road(s) into the town centre
Or, she could just write a letter of complaint ....

It has been altered several times but you cannot do anything about a vehicle that makes a right turn as I found out 40 years ago.

Coming from Southport there is only one lane to go straight across to Ormskirk centre and to turn right into County Road. It there are three cars turning right everyone has to wait till they move. Years ago there were two lanes at the lights one turning right and one for straight on. It was much better that way. In the summer it is a bottle neck now.
