Lee Durkin, an animal lover and animal charity supporter, has been contacted by residents through social media to take a stand to address the matter which they believe is giving pet owners an unfair reputation based on a stubborn minority.

Lee Durkin said: “Residents are in a foul mood across Southport about dog fouling, especially on pavements”

He added: “I have had unhappy people sending me messages about this asking why can’t the council do something? So far some of the main affected roads in Birkdale include: Dunbar Road, Guildford Road, Sandon Road and St. John’s Road. “

“My reply has been that the Council can’t be everywhere although it seems as though fouling is getting worse in some parts, it’s only a small proportion of pet owners that are actually leaving the mess. The large majority thankfully collect their waste and continue on their way enjoying their time spent with man’s best friend.”

“Whilst I am happy to act on residents’ concerns to bring this issue to the councils notice I do feel it is up to the minority that are causing the mess to in fact clean their act up, so if you are one of them people, please pick your mess up and bin it.”

Presumably this animal lover and charity supporter is only the conservative candidate when he wears the blue suit.

'Them people' aren't going away anytime soon. They often follow a regular route, which shouldn't be hard to surveil, once their favoured time of day has been established.

Great issue to raise, this is one of my pet hates .
