Queens Road has now been made "No Entry" at both ends to all vehicles except Buses and Cycles.Residents will have to use Leyland Road or Alexander Road to access their homes.
Taxi drivers will have to find new routes adding to the cost of journeys.

So you cannot enter Queens Road from either end, but you can from Leyland and Alexandra Roads. Sefton Councillors have come up with stupid ideas over the years, but this is a brand new level of lunacy.

As most will have seen my previous comments and know I’m a cyclist who supports the general pop up cycle path scheme, but I can’t get my head around no entry at both ends!
From one side, fine, I get that, it effectively turns things into a one way street, (which does make it easier for motorists as well as cyclists!). But I’m scratching my head over this.

I've just heard that anyone seen walking on the cracks in the pavement will be dealt with most severely and transported to Bootle for re-education as a councillor.

Adding costs to journeys?
What like go down the next road?
**** if they can't afford that maybe they shouldn't have a car.

They wouldn't have a car hence the reason why they would be in a Taxi to which the original comment was aimed.

Southport town is one of the easiest places to get around for any cyclist - the town does not need any cycle lanes. Anyone know what the square boxes are just before the junctions in Queen's Road and Hoghton Street-they have an arrow indicating that they are red boxes and they straddle two lanes??

Perhaps there should be a spot the cyclist game, cyclists on pavements do not count only cyclists on pop up cycles in the cycle lane.
Sefton Council spend our money like water on stupid useless unused schemes which only seem to please the Idiot and his big eared mate Pnp and Donkey Richard

That’s not quite right LL, this was money from the Government, to encourage safer cycling. Unfortunately Sefton Council didn’t really have a clue how to spend it wisely, and as a consequence, have completely wasted it on this badly thought out nonsensical scheme.
As for PNP and Donkey D*ck, you need to cut the love birds a bit of slack, they are obviously besotted with one another, and they must still be pinching themselves after finding that there’s someone for everyone.

While I agree that Southport is relatively easy to get about on a bike, the town DOES need cycle lanes! I personally think that restrictions on Queens Road for a cycle scheme are a good idea, but don’t see the need for both ends to be restricted.
Queens Road is relatively narrow, as a cyclist, I’ve had numerous inconsiderate drivers trying to force their way past, when there’s been oncoming traffic. No entry at the Junction with Manchester Road, will reduce this massively, but at the same time, not causing to much of a problem for motorists.

Force their way past???? When cyclists stop riding near the middle of the road and start paying road tax and are made to get insurance, I'll take that comment seriously. On another note, when did the highway code allow cyclists to ride two or more abreast as I'm increasingly seeing this, especially on narrow roads. To combat this practice, I've decided to safest thing to do is leave my hand on the horn until they get into some form of single file.
