In anticipation of another very hot and busy day along the Sefton coastline, we will be continuing with a strong police presence today and working with the Coastguard, Green Sefton and other emergency services.
The advice remains that people should avoid flocking to the coastline and local beauty spots, as large numbers will negate all the social distancing measures taken up to date. The Coronovirus pandemic is not over and everyone still has a social responsibility to play there part in reducing the risk of spreading the virus. Please consider this before travelling.
Where car parks do fill up and traffic issues arise, road closures will be put in place and Police Officers and PCSO's will put temporary 'one way' systems in place to alleviate congestion.
If you park on the roadside, please park with consideration for local residents. Ensure you park legally and responsibly. Cars breaching yellow line restrictions will be ticketed by Civil Enforcement Officers. Any vehicles parked obstructing pavements or double parked so as to obstruct a vehicle the size of a fire engine will be ticketed and removed by Police Officers or PCSO's.
The Dispersal Zone Order remains in operation, which allows Police Officers and PCSO's to direct individuals and groups who's presence is likely to lead to anti-social behaviour, to leave the area shown on the map (See previous post) and not return within a 24 period. Any items in their possession which may lead to anti-social behaviour (ie large speakers etc) will be surrendered to officers and can be reclaimed at a later date.
The Public Space Protection Order that bans alcohol from the beaches at Formby and Ainsdale is permanently in place. Anyone found trying to take alcohol onto the beach will be given the option to surrender it before it is seized and a fixed penalty is issued.
Barbecues are banned from the Sefton coastline and people will not be allowed to take them onto the beaches.
Yesterday afternoon, 5 children were reported missing on Formby beach. All were found safely. When you arrive at the beach, arrange a meeting point in case you become separated, that everyone in your family will be able to find. Take a photograph when you arrive, so that, should anything happen, police officers will have a current photograph of your children and what they are wearing. For vulnerable children and adults, consider ID bracelets or even trackers. Don't forget sunscreen and hats especially for young children, and to drink plenty of water, not alcohol or fizzy drinks, which will dehydrate you.
Please be aware, that every available resource will go into searching for missing children. Your help in reducing the risk of it happening will be of great help to the emergency services.
Enjoy the hot weather, but please help by following this guidance.
