Or he could have been a Type 1 Diabetic suffering from a hypoglycaemic attack, which will produce identical symptoms.

    Too quick to judge!

Agreed, but if the paramedics confirm his state is caused by excessive alcohol then they should drive off and leave him, so they can attend more deserving cases.

They have a duty of care to everyone. Would you like someone you cared for to be left just because they'd drank too much?

Agreed, again. But if there are more deserving cases, then they should take precedence before treating someone who's problem is self inflicted, and, yes, that includes people I care for.

They do prioritise, at the time of the call. If you watch BBC's excellent Ambulance series you see this week in week with ambulances being diverted whilst en-route but once on scene the have have to deal with the patient.

They should treat them and do enough to keep them safe and well - and then charge them a fee for time spent treating them when they sober up !

But where do you draw the line? if you charge the drunk do you charge the obese person having a heart attack, do you charge the smoker with breathing difficulties, do you charge the person taken an overdose due to mental health issues.

The ambulance service isn't here to judge, there but for the grace of god go us all.
