Libraries across the Liverpool City Region, covering the local authority areas of Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, St Helens, Sefton and Wirral, have been working together to explore new ways to make it easier for customers of one library service to be able to use the other libraries too.

This will be helpful for people who live in one borough and work, study, or visit other neighbouring boroughs.

The introduction of Library Light from Monday, 8 July 2019 means that existing customers can access all libraries across the Liverpool City Region with their current library card. Simply present your library card, provide you name, address and contact number and ‘Library Light’ will do the rest for you!

Library Light will enable you to:-

• Borrow up to 6 books from any neighbouring library services – you will need to return those books to the library authority you borrowed them from.
• Reserve up to 6 books from any library in the Liverpool City Region via contacting them direct.
• Access PC’s and printers (charges may apply for printing).

Library Light is available for all ages. If you’re under 16, you’ll need to provide parental / guardian consent. Residents who are not currently library customers only need to join one library service to access Library Light.

Councillor Graham Morgan on behalf of the Liverpool City Region, said “Our libraries are a fantastic community resource and I’m delighted that we are extending the services they offer across the Liverpool City Region.

Enabling you to visit any library with your existing library card will make it much easier for everyone across the Liverpool City Region to enjoy the benefits they bring, as well as giving you a great choice regarding where and when you visit.”
