Fire Crews were called to reports of two people trapped in mud on the beach in the vicinity of Crosby Leisure Centre, Crosby Beach on the 16th January. Firefighters were alerted at 5.02pm and on scene at 5.11pm.
2 fire engines are on scene along with the Search & Rescue Team with specialist equipment. Firefighters are liaising with Coastguard colleagues to formulate a tactical plan for a safe approach and four firefighters have donned water kit and are ready for immediate deployment.
Police have made contact with the persons trapped. North West Ambulance Service are also in attendance.
A multi-agency meeting has taken place and firefighters will approach the casualties wearing full water kit and use a rescue sled to effect their rescue and return to safe ground while in contact with Police colleagues on the beach.
Both casualties have been removed from the water via a rescue sledge and taken to safe ground where they are being assessed by NWAS HART (Hazardous Area Response Team).
