Complaining about Sefton Council is like shouting at a donkey, a rather pointless exercise.
They have been for some time unable to run basic services with efficiency and giving them responsibility for cycle provision allows the stupid to fritter our taxes.

Posts attached to this Town Centre parking lost article fretting about the loss of trade for town centre business seem a bit perverse. Paying for a parking space is a feature of most town centres (not to speak of other places where many vehicles have reason to stop, e.g. scenic villages just about everywhere. A parking space is a valuable commodity in those circumstances. Motorists who claim to be concerned about Southport's future prosperity but who are, nevertheless, prepared to abandon the town over parking are being unreasonable, if not hypocritical.

…it's about pedestrians, too!

Let's not suppose cost-free parking is some sort of human right. Perhaps it is time every parking space attracted a fee in some proportion to its value.
