Detectives investigating a ram raid robbery at a jewellers in Southport in 2017 have arrested and charged a Scottish man with handling stolen goods.

At around 4.40pm on Thursday, 23 November 2017, officers and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) attended a report of a robbery at David Search Jewellers on Lord Street, in which a Landrover Defender vehicle was reported to have rammed the premises before watches and jewellery were stolen. No persons were injured in the incident and enquiries are ongoing to identify those responsible.

Following enquiries, 31-year-old William Lowe from Greenholm in Ayrshire, Scotland was arrested yesterday (Wednesday 12 February) in Manchester and charged with handling stolen goods in connection with a Rolex watch believed to have been stolen in the robbery.

Lowe was conditionally bailed to appear for sentencing at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday 13 March.

Detective Chief Inspector Gayle Rooney said: "Our investigation into this robbery continues and I would continue to appeal to anyone with information to come forward.

"This arrest shows that if any suspicions are raised about potentially stolen property in connection with this or any investigation, we will take action, no matter how much time has passed."
