Southport MP Damien Moore has received several complaints from local businesses concerned about the damage being caused by the new cycle lanes, and also about the loss of £137,000 income from the suspension of the pay and display bays on Hoghton Street in Southport.

Over 1,000 people have signed a petition against the scheme in just 24 hours:

Bootle’s loony left Councillors will be delighted to hear that a petition has been raised against this hair brained scheme. They will be even more delighted to know that it’s having a detrimental effect on Southport businesses. RIP Southport, Bootle’s destruction of the town is a step closer.

MP urges council to scrap cycle lanes which cost £137,000 in lost revenue a year

Why is it Southport's MP [& his predecessor] spend more time scrutinizing Sefton Council than he does [/Pugh did] holding the government to account in Westminster?

A case of look busy, the voters might be watching?

cycle lanes …cost £137,000 in lost revenue

While some of those displaced motorists may opt to cycle into town,
I anticipate many will find some other parking space, possibly even one which generates revenue for the Council.

As far as I can see, most motorists are ignoring the No Entry sign by Hesketh Park, including IRONICALLY... a Sefton Council Catering Van!

Even their own employees are ignoring it.

Similar at the opposite end, I was waiting to cross at the lights by the YMCA and 2 cars simply drove straight across from Hoghton St into Queens Road!

Pot holes all over town and money is wasted on something that will not be used mind you it has given the looney and his new friends something to massage their ego's. A baseball bat would have been cheaper.
