Southport residents should be able to collect train tickets they book online at the town’s stations, MP Damien Moore has argued.

Writing to rail minister Jo Johnson, Damien said that it is an ‘unfair oversight’ that people cannot pick up tickets they have purchased online. ‘I am writing to you, therefore, to ask for your guidance and support in resolving this matter’.

The Southport MP added: ‘If we had a machine to collect tickets we’ve bought online, it would be a big help to both commuters and shoppers. We could cut out frustrating waits in queues, and everyone could just get on with their journeys.

‘Our town relies on commuters traveling out and tourists coming in. We need to transform our transport to help that process as much as we can.

‘I look forward to hearing back from the minister.’

It is absolutely ridiculous in this day and age that you can't collect tickets bought online at the station, not only should you be able to collect them from a machine you should be able to pick them up from the booking office.
    Bring back British Rail!

With modern technology why do we need a ticket, e-ticket or app.

Oh yes...pork shite pies, crap bogs, even crapper carriages. nothing on time. Don't remember the 60's & 70's then? How time dulls the memory.

This was a real problem for me in my previous job. I travelled all over the country by rail and sometimes had to book or change tickets at late notice. We had to buy tickets through an agency, which could be delivered by post or collected from any Ticket on Demand machine.
In the rest of the country, nearly every station has these. In Merseyside there is only a machine in Liverpool. I complained about this at Southport station and was told that Merseyrail made more money from passengers buying tickets over the counter than they did from people collecting them from machines and therefore they would not be installing them.
I hope Mr Moore has more luck than I did!

Worse now on the Manchester line, they don't go to Piccadilly now, the DMU units then ran on time ish and they were not as crowded as now as extra rolling stock was available, also the Liverpool line was a quicker service and some trains were expresses.
    Bring back British Rail!
