Pictures were published by a member of southportnews group this morning of an arrest on Lord Street. Speculation was that it was relative to one of the jewellers in that location.

Qlocal can confirm that neither jewellers were affected and that the arrest was more likely to be from a residential address rather than any shop / store.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "At around 9.30am we received a report that a man had been assaulted in a flat on Lord Street, Southport. Officers attended and a 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault. The victim sustained a minor injury which did not require medical treatment."
