Local Landlady Annie McTaggart has lost all faith in Police after vicious attack in her Wellington Pub on Eastbank Street .

    Annie commented on Facebook...

I FEEL I NEED TO DO THIS AND SHOW WHAT WE HAVE TO PUT UP WITH AS LICENSEES.

Keighley BALL put a glass in a mans face caused a Fracas with another customer IN OUR PUB

And I asked her to leave and got viciously battered by her.

After the attack I asked her why when she knew who I was , her answer was ! If I’d av got u on the floor I’d AV stomped all over ur face .

She was due at court last week but was a no show , a warrant went out for her arrest .

So yesterday she appeared at court , the police didn’t pick my impact statement up .

So here we get she was given a 6 week 8-8 curfew , a £100 fine , a 30 hr community service and a injunction not to come near our pub till 2021, even tho wasn’t a customer before this.

Disgusted oh yes , will I call police again NO WAY , I have no confidence in police or courts it’s a total joke .

I’m 67 doing a good job and service to our customers yet scum like her come in do this and get a little slap in wrist and what’s the DETERRENT absolutely zilch .

Will she do similar again of course she will as she has totally got away with it BRITISH JUSTICE EH .

Thanku magistrates u again have unleashed another price of SCUM INTO SOCIETY .
The photo of her and what she did to me

It seems the Ladies problems are with the Court Service.

Seems like a reasonable sentence. Can’t blame the police for the final outcome in court. They investigate the crime and present the evidence to the courts, not hand down any sentencing, that’s for the magistrates to decide.

Courts at fault, not the police. They did their job.

In fact, she should be praising the police for bringing a successful prosecution, resulting in a conviction.
Also, I don’t think it’s very responsible for a photograph to be published of the defendant, without an unbiased report of the actual facts of the case being published as well. This is a very one sided, and understandably emotional account of the incident according to the victim.

This is an appalling incident but like other posts what has this got to do with the police? They did their job in bringing a conviction, it is the court that handed down the sentence which I agree seems lenient under the circumstances, as for not collecting the impact statement this would be down to the prosecution team not the police.

I have no difficulty with a photograph of this convicted, violent offender being posted - she has been convicted and that is a matter of public record.
The publication of what this convicted, violent offender looks like is, in my view, a public service.
With regard to the 'one sided' point made - whilst in Court was this convicted, violent offender's opportunity to adduce any evidence of mitigation.

Having said all that I can't help thinking of that legal maxim of 'how did you mitigate your losses'.
Also, seeing the state of some of the bar flies attempting to smoke standing up outside this establishment and - the state of them leaving - perhaps the landlady would be best advised to stop serving some of her punters earlier!
