News that GP waiting times are now at record lengths has been strongly condemned by Southport's Labour Parliamentary Candidate, Liz Savage.
An annual survey carried out by leading GP magazine, Pulse, reveals that average waiting times have broken the two-week barrier for the first time.

Liz Savage, who has started a campaign to have a walk-in centre established in Southport, says that it is yet another strong indication that the NHS has been going backwards since the Liberal Democrats and Conservatives brought in their Health and Social Care Act in 2012.

"The NHS has been steadily undermined since that legislation. Both parties went on a mission to privatise and underfund the health service. What we see now is the increasing effect and damage."

"From falling GP numbers in practices across the country to a massive shortage of nurses and doctors in our hospitals, the situation is dire. Having created the NHS, only Labour will restore it and ensure our fantastic NHS staff get the support they need and our residents get the timely care they deserve."

Jonathan Ashworth, Labour’s Shadow Health Secretary, responding to the survey, said:

“Whether it’s for surgery, in bursting A&Es, for cancer treatment or now in general practice, patients are facing unacceptably long waits. The truth is, as Boris Johnson’s senior adviser confirmed, the Tories simply don’t care about the NHS and can't be trusted with it.”

Perhaps the penny might drop that you have to be in power to do anything and with Jeremy at the helm and their muddled Brexit and other policies they won't getting in anytime soon.

Look how badly they have done in recent elections.

Instead of constantly criticising offer well thought out alternatives and respect democracy.

You can't vote for article 50 then say you want to rerun the referendum.

Pray tell us who's money you think the Tories are spending ? Perhaps you need to have a little think before posting your oxymoronic tripe.

Time to bring in a £15 charge for an
    appointment. It'll stop timewasters and
hopefully get rid of the 350 failed to turn
    up idiots each month.

I think there are a lot of amnesiacs in the Tory electorate, one thing NO ONE can blame Labour for is neglecting the NHS. Post 1997 the NHS inherited from the pious pigs in Toryland was knocked into shape. Waiting lists ripped apart, record numbers of replacement joint operations, cancer suspects seen within TWO WEEKS by a Consultant. And you have the brass neck to compare the shambles now thanks to Hunt is remotely akin to what we had under Labour.

Getting to see a GP is a farce, unless you stand outside the closed surgery at 07.30 in the morning and queue up with others in the rain the other option is the lottery of pressing the redial button on your phone at 08.59 in the hope that you win the lottery and actually do not get the message you are number 109994 in the queue and your call will be answered next February.

TORY RUBBISH! Pity the Labour Party is now finished thanks to picking the last resort as it's leader, until Farages Party collapse the Political scene of this Country at the next General Election and the usual suspects can squabble between themselves for the crumbs.

How much do the Tories spend of their own money? Don't they run the country with 'other people's money'?

How odd. So the 20,000 promised police officers will be paid for by a whip round at the next Cabinet meeting? Or every Tory member will tip up an extra few quid to fund it?

Great for the taxpayer, but not really sustainable, I'd have thought.
