UPDATE: We are sorry to announce that we are unable to open this weekend. We don't have much to finish, but have come up against some last minute issues. We will now open on Friday 8th July at midday..

The Carlton bar in Southport is back open this weekend!

The iconic cocktail-style bar on Lord Street has been closed for the past six months while an extensive six figure refurbishment has been carried out.

The Carlton is due to reopen its doors at 6.30pm this Friday (1st July 2022), having been closed for work to be carried out since January.

Everyone is invited to head down this weekend and check out the bar’s new look.

The relaunch will see a total of 22 new jobs being created.

Guests will be wowed by The Carlton’s new look, with lots of surprises in store.

The venue has been a firm favourite among generations of Sandgrounders and visitors due to its sunny beer garden, its excellent live music, the quality of the service and a location right at the heart of the town centre. Older residents will remember the venue as The Red Rum Hotel.

People will be able to enjoy a tasty variety of food when they visit, with a choice of sharing platters and other dishes.

The Carlton is owned by local businessman Carl White, who also owns other busy local nightlife venues including Avenue and the Chop House on Scarisbrick Avenue in Southport town centre.
