Heavy rain has caused flooding on Town Lane and Rotten Row this morning. A large section of Town Lane is covered by water over a foot deep in places. The water is running off the new housing development into the road.

More rain is forecast over the weekend.

The building company were warned that the flooding could occur in that area, the residents who move into those New properties will now have possible difficulties insuring their houses if this happens on a regular basis.

I see the taxi driver slowed to a safe sensible speed when driving through flood water!

jeez would you buy a house there??....but they never clean the drains out every month like they used to...rufford road was flooded a few days ago...the drains are just left to block...imagine when they build a few more thousand houses in churchtown...mass flooding

That was obvious. Even after light showers there is water everywhere on that road. Putting levels of soil down on marshland was never going to solve the problem of constantly wet land. It is the same near Rotten Row - the old archery site was always flooded even after light rain. This was changed into a caravan site with additional concrete and soil being laid due to ground contamination, but no drains were put in place. The caravan site was then higher than the level of the Park. Every year water ran down from the old archery site to the area of the Children's playground and on to the road. That site and the park are constantly flooding. Neither Rotten Row nor Town Lane flooded before these changes took place. Victoria Park is not suitable for caravans - as a public park people can choose where to walk but caravans are sited - they should be kept to the hard laid ground - and there was good reasons why Kew was not suitable to be built on. But greed transcends common sense!
