As lockdown restrictions continue to ease, we are reminding our communities to familiarise themselves with the latest guidance and enjoy themselves safely.
As of Monday (12 April), facilities including non-essential shops, hairdressers and gyms will reopen, however the ‘rule of six’ remains in place, with outdoor gatherings still limited to six people or two households.
The mixing of households indoors is still not permitted.
Beer gardens and restaurants with outdoor seating are allowed to reopen, and the requirement to eat and drink while seated will remain. Public buildings such as libraries and community centres, and the majority of outdoor settings and attractions including zoos and theme parks will also be allowed to open once again.
As of Monday, overnight stays away from home in England will be permitted and self-contained accommodation can also reopen.
Chief Inspector Pete Clark said: "The further easing of lockdown restrictions is another positive step forward, and officers will continue to be out on patrol across Merseyside to offer guidance to the public and ensure people are meeting safely.
"We want everyone to enjoy this new stage of relaxed guidelines, and we expect to see increased numbers of people in our towns and the city centre, however I want to reiterate the importance of following the guidance that remains in place to ensure that we can continue with the progress that has already been made.
"We know that people will want to catch up with loved ones, but please bear in mind that the rule of six still applies, with a maximum of six people in total being able to meet outdoors, or any number of people from only two households. Beer gardens and restaurants with outdoor seating will also reopen, and we will be working closely with our partners to ensure seating rules are being followed.
"While the requirement for people to stay at home has ended, I would advise the public to plan outings or journeys in advance, avoiding areas that you know to be over crowded. By acting considerately and responsibly, we can prevent another rise in Covid cases and continue moving towards the complete relaxation of lockdown restrictions."
