Because of the listed building status for the pier consent is needed because the tram tracks are to be removed as they are both redundant and corroded. The wooden decking was last refurbished in 2000 and it is at its end of its natural life.
In the application for consent there are a lot of facts and figures people may find interesting.
- 1,108 metres in length, roughly 50% over land, and 50% to sea
- Covers 68 spans (between supports) of approx 15.25m widths
- 22 foot wide in general (6.7metres)
Proposed work includes:
- Replacing ALL boards of 1" thickness with hardwood boards 1-3/8"
- Removal of all tram tracks
- Existing layout of the boards will be maintained
- Life expectancy of new boards is 30 years
The cost of this work has been costed at £206,000.
A basic calculation given length and width implies a cost of almost £28 per square metre for the work, which obviously has to include material, labour, disposal etc..

Ah so you’re claiming that my approximate calculation on the other post is wrong, yet at the same time accepting that this one is right. You couldn’t make your personality…..

No but if I was making up a fake made up non player character persona like yours to support my posts and like them I would at least write and post in a different style with different rhetoric. I only need one personality. This one was taken from council literature, was referencing clearly all works to be done and stating the overall price, left no room for misinterpretation and was by a real genuine character, genuine in more ways than one .
