The Port return to Emirates FA Cup action tomorrow, with a win again Ashton United resulting with a place in the first round proper.

This match once again comes on the back of a league defeat, as the side stumbled to a 2-1 defeat against York last week.

This isn’t the first time the sides have met this season though, with the previous meeting ending in a 2-2 draw.

Since then, the Robins have suffered some heavy losses, with 5-0 defeats against Chorley and most recently Spennymoor.

They also been able to gather some league wins in the past month, with back-to-back league victories against Hereford and Leamington.

To get to this stage of the competition, Jody Banim’s side had to overcome Trafford and King’s Lynn Town.

A 3-0 victory over Trafford was certainly the perfect way to get their cup campaign started.

A double from star man Chadwick helped them well and truly on their way to victory over their lower league opponents.

Chadwick, who has five league goals this season, was involved in the single goal that got them through against King Lynn Town, getting the assist as Ramirez Howarth scored on his debut.

Still at the helm of the club is former striker Banim.

He entered the managing world, when he took over as joint-manager in 2016 and has impressed ever since, silencing the doubters in the process as the club continue to progress with limited resources.

This game finished 2-2 earlier on in the season when the two met in the league so goals are bound to be in store again with a lot at stake.
