How about we stop all transport that has killed a pedestrian? That means no railways because people jump in front of trains?
No cyclists either as they have killed pedestrians by riding on pavements WITHOUT BRAKES.
I can't type the words I want to say to you, but safe to say they start with the 6th & 15th letter of the alphabet, and they could also describe the Foreign Office.

There is a map somewhere on here, which shows the greatest 'cluster' of accidents in Southport is centred around the Lord St/Eastbank St area. Which is hardly surprising, since that's where the greatest number of people are on foot, along with a lot of passing traffic.

Shoppers/visitors in the towns central shopping area, really don't need through-traffic (flowing along a major 'car sewer') whizzing past them, quite the reverse.....They need a safe stress-free environment, where shopping can be done in a relaxed manner, without all that noise and stink and the ever-present risk of being squashed on the road!
The only “sewer” here is you.

Do you use the same psychiatrist as the cyclist. Pray tell us these quick routes Chapel St gone Lord St you want gone Promenade the most slow sequence traffic lights in the world so do you advocate the Coastal Rd /Sea Wall a two lane road which in summer will be stood still for hours while lorries are extricated from under the pier.
The number of pedestrians crossing Lord St literally yards from a crossing and the number that can't distinguish between red and green on the said crossings a few snipers on the buildings along Lord St picking off the idiots would serve much better.
Not long before an elderly person gets killed by an idiot riding a bike at speed on the pavement.

Notwithstanding that this couldn't be a more clear-cut example, of why through-traffic should be routed elsewhere. I thought it wouldn't be long, before someone popped up to re-focus the blame onto the humble cyclist - duh!

Not that you’d ever dream of doing something like that.
