As if Sefton Councillors in Bootle are going to listen to a single word from a Southport resident, and the more people that send an e.mail criticising this lunatic scheme, the more likely they are to make it permanent.

I take it that you've emailed, or are you just complaining on here?

Like my post says, Labour Lefties in Bootle would take no notice of anything sent in by Southport residents, and voicing a criticism will merely add to their resolve. Only time will tell, but Southport is dying on its feet, and this lunatic scheme, introduced by lunatic Councillors, will only hasten the closing of more and more retail businesses in the Town.

The scheme was introduced by Central Government, NOT Sefton Council.

I support some of the scheme, not all as I can't understand the thinking behind the changes on Hoghton Street, but rather than bleat on here and complain that no notice is taken, I've emailed the council.

That is incorrect. The funding was provided by Central Government, the scheme was introduced by Sefton Council.
The statement from Ian Mather says that a scheme had to be agreed within four weeks, and completed within eight weeks. This in turn meant that there was not sufficient time to consult with the people it would affect. In reality, this meant that the ill thought out lunatic scheme was rushed in just to take advantage of the funding available.

The scheme WAS introduced by Central Government. Sefton applied and received the funding. If the scheme had been introduced by Sefton Council, why would Central Government provide the funding?

Do you have a problem understanding English? do you think the Government sent someone to Southport and told Sefton which roads to close. They provided the money and the Council had to rush through without consultation the ill thought out plans in order to get the money as Justbecause already pointed out. The fact that our MP is up in arms about it surely tells even the simplest of folk that the Government DIDN'T stipulate which roads to ruin.

The Council have to participate in these schemes or they lose other budgets, which ever roads had been chosen there would have been an uproar from the NIMBYs

Well there's something else we can discuss if your prepared to step from behind your keyboard and put your money where your mouth is in relation to showing me what a 'crap driver' I am! (Or was it just another example of you commenting without thinking?)

The scheme WAS introduced by the Government, Sefton have applied for the funding, which has been used on these restrictions, which as you'd know if you bothered reading my comments fully, I don't fully agree with.

As for closing the roads, which ones have been closed? There are several with restrictions, but they're not closed. (Or is that you having problem with understanding English?)

Can anyone explain to me WHY Bootle politicians would WANT Southport businesses to fail?

Read this document. You will then understand why this has happened the way it has. It’s not that difficult to understand.

The result in this case is to displace 'banned' traffic onto Albert Rd. Acceptable enough - except Albert Rd is always cluttered-up with parked cars.....Solution: provide yellow lines along both sides of Albert Rd, to allow unhindered traffic flow.

Much to the dismay of some posters, here, the government has more plans for expanding cycle access plus pedestrian safety!
Gear change: a bold vision for cycling and walking!

    Plans for cars? More limitations.

Could it be, that a particular segment of the population i.e. the motoring fraternity.....Don't want to see cycling encouraged - because they consider cyclists a nuisance?
