Birkdale’s Lee Durkin has concerns after being contacted by a local resident after a leaflet from the current Birkdale Councillors was delivered.
Mr Durkin said “I was contacted online by a local resident that had received a leaflet about Crescent road which has become well known for its condition. Upon reading it I have noticed the current Birkdale Councillors have said they have lobbied the Councils highway department for over 8 months, and at long last it will be resurfaced later in April. Unfortunately by going to the councils website it clearly states that micro surfacing will take place which is not actually a full resurfacing as you may think from reading their leaflet.
Mr Durkin added “ I first contacted Sefton highways through the normal online channels on the 31st August 2020 about the potholes and they came and delt with them , over the winter the Road has suffered with more Road surface lifting and leaving a wake of potholes that are unsafe for motorists and cyclists , I contacted the Councils highways again on the 22nd February this year and they came out to fill a few holes but a full resurface is needed, not a micro surfacing that the current Birkdale councillors claim to have achieved.”
Lee explains “Micro surfacing is a term used for making things look better it is a quick-traffic application as thin as 9.5mm micro surfacing can increase skid resistance, colour contrast, surface restoration and service life to high-speed roadways , such projects are often reopened to traffic within an hour , I feel a little more lobbying may have served residents better than the Birkdale councillors eagerness to print there leaflet in time for the local election.”
Mr Durkin finished with “ I have been keen to try and help residents when possible, I have truly felt welcome by the community spirit we have in Birkdale, I can’t wait to see what the coming years will bring us, hopefully a resurfaced Crescent Road ? “

Another cheap quick fix solution by the cheap quick fix Council. They need the money for the Bootle Strand.
