Southport FC Under 14’s having won their Craven Minor league title for the 2nd year running, last night went to Liverpool FA HQ at Walton Hall Park, Liverpool to attempt the league and cup double for the second successive year.

An early goal from Adam Makin settled the team into their usual rhythm and when Rico Seddon-Davidson made it 2-0 ten minutes later the confidence grew higher. Nine minutes later a powerful free kick by Ben Shape from outside the box made it a more comfortable 3-0 half time score.

Not to be outdone, Hesketh Colts came out strong at the start of the second half and scored to get right back in the game. From then on they continued to put Southport under pressure with ‘keeper Flinn Schinkel being called into action to make several saves.

Not until Kamran O’Neil scored a goal he started with a dazzling run before then finishing to get the 4th goal. This once again settled Southport who then went on to score two more courtesy of Owen Kelly to finish as 6-1 victors and complete the double double.

Congratulations to all the lads and to Hesketh Colts who kept going right to the end of a match worthy of any final.
