Big hearted Booths has launched a next-day community delivery service to help those in need during coronavirus crisis.

Its aimed at the isolated elderly and vulnerable who can now buy all the items and provisions they need during the pandemic over the phone.

Stores have a range of 14 essential grocery bundles covering basics from milk, bread, eggs, pasta, tea, fruit, vegetables, and meat - and are respectfully asking that only those who really need this service to use it.

The scheme's now a week old with deliveries to a three-mile radius of the stores; operating five days a week from Monday to Friday, there are no charges for the service.

“These are unprecedented times and we want to help assist the most vulnerable members of our communities that are affected by the virus," said Booths.

"We have limited capacity for deliveries, so we are asking customers to reserve this service for only those in great need.

“Booths have worked quickly to implement this system at a time when supermarkets are under tremendous pressure and we’re anticipating a great deal of demand," it added.

"We’ll do our best to serve as many customers in need at this time of need and respectfully request that you only use this service if you absolutely need to, as slots are very limited.”
