Police have seized drugs, a knife and stolen property after another day of proactive police activity to disrupt criminals in Merseyside.
The activity, supported by ongoing investigations, specific intelligence and information from the public, is being carried out as part of the force’s ongoing commitment to tackling serious and organised crime and other issues affecting residents in Merseyside.

• After information was provided by a member of the public, officers searched Rimrose Valley Park near the Pendle Estate in Litherland and located a large kitchen knife which was seized for forensic examination
• Following a stop check of a blue Transit van in Southport Road, Bootle a number of items reported stolen in Cheshire were discovered and three males – aged 14, 17 and 24 - were arrested
• A man stop checked on Smithdown Road in Wavertree was detained after a lock knife was found. A 29-year-old man from Wavertree was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and taken into custody for questioning. A search of a property in Wavertree followed, assisted by the Dog Section, and a large quantity of suspected drugs was recovered along with drugs paraphernalia. The man was further arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs of Class A and B, and possession of a controlled drug of Class B
• A patrol on Salisbury Street in Islington noticed a male on a pedal bike who appeared to be trying to evade them. The male was detained and a quantity of cannabis found following a search. Following a subsequent search of an address in Islington, cannabis and a large quantity of crack cocaine was seized along with drugs paraphernalia. A stolen motorbike was recovered after a search at a second address. A 27-year-old man from Everton was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis and a 26-year-old woman from Islington was arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine and cannabis
• After a stop check on a vehicle on Liverpool Road, the male and female occupants of the car were searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act. Following a roadside test, the driver was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and possession with intent to supply cannabis. He has been released under investigation

Chief Superintendent Mark Stanton said: “We are determined to keep up the pressure on criminals in Merseyside and make sure they are left in no doubt that their activities are not welcome in our communities.
“Every drug, knife and firearm we seize hits these criminals where it hurts. It restricts their ability to cause harm in our communities and takes away their ability to fund and carry out their criminal activity.
“Every stop check and every arrest we make should serve as a reminder to them that we will not stand by and allow them to bring crime to our streets, and I hope this activity reassures the wider public that we are determined to make our communities safer places to live.
“Working alongside our partners and the local community, we can continue the momentum from this week in future weeks and months, which will have a noticeable impact for residents and businesses in the area.
