Officers are appealing for information following a serious road traffic collision in Southport where a man was left unconscious after the driver of a car drove off after the incident.
Between 2 - 3pm on Friday 22 September we received a report that a white BMW was involved in a collision with a pedestrian on Lord Street near Barclays Bank in Southport.
The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, sustained a broken leg and was left unconscious after the collision.
The driver of the BMW didn’t stop at the scene and officers are continuing to investigate this incident to locate the vehicle and motorist.
Inspector Emma Haffenden said: “To leave the scene of a collision is a serious crime, and we’re keen to trace the driver and the white BMW involved to assist our enquiries.
“The man who was involved in the collision was reported to have been crossing the road when this incident occurred, therefore we are appealing to anyone who saw this or the car involved to please contact us.
“If you were driving through Lord Street and have any CCTV or dashcam footage from the afternoon of Friday 22 September, please send this or any information to us so we can take action.”
If you have information about this incident, please contact @MerPolCC, 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting the reference number: 23000963419.

Maybe the motorist couldn't stop due sudden brake failure, or was simply having a 'medical episode'? Either way, he should now come forward to clear his name.

Everything he’s posts is absolutely bollocks. He’s a nasty ‘orrible lowlife who gets his kicks winding people up. It’s time administrators banned him from posting.

Hope the person involved in this incident makes a full recovery from his injuries, and the driver is found, prosecuted, and recieves a hefty fine, banned from driving or a term at his Majesty's pleasure ...........................Been saying the PNP should have been banned years ago, with his pointless tirrade of arguments about drivers, cycle lanes being installed etc etc,the man is a complete and utter "Knob head" and him and his muppet friend need banning asap, with their pointless postings about cyclists everytime there is an RTA incident, making crass comments all the time, winding people up with their comments..Just wish their mothers had sneezed when being conceived, and shot them both into space...

There's 3 controlled crossing points on the 300m stretch between the Monument and Eastbank Street yet people behave like lemmings dashing across 4 lanes of traffic because they can be arsed to use a proper crossing.

Merseyside Police should have made this appeal at the time of the incident. It’s doubtful that anyone still has dashcam footage of an incident that happened a month ago.
