Why would you think that would be
World figures on the virus outbreak for every country are more or less explained - but for Germany, the figures do not appear to match up to other countries.
The first outbreak in Germany occurred in the same week as the rest of Europe - give and take a day or two difference. Germany is reporting 37,000 confirmed cases and has been fortunate to see only a small number of deaths - around 200.
Germany has a larger population than the UK, including a much larger immigrant population who are unlikely to have built up any immunity to Coronaviridae. Almost twenty five per cent of the population are aged over sixty years of age. The general public are highly unlikely to behave any different to that of Europeans everywhere else. So why are the figures so vastly different to all other countries?

Germany has more confirmed cases as many more people are being tested than here.
Our confirmed cases would jump if we stepped up testing.

Testing and contact tracing right from the start. Diligently, with every new case.
As the WHO stated: 'test, test, test'.

This is further supported by the manner in which people greet one another - in the UK people shake hands (surface/hygiene touching) in Italy, they greet one another by a kiss on either cheek, ( Airborne droplets contact) in China - they greet one another by a brief bow??

The Government have been shown up again, they were shouting that they were ramping testing up to 10,000 a day and soon to be 25,000, later last week they were bragging they had achieved the 10,000 goal now it is revealed that they haven't reached that goal yet.
Germany are testing half a million per week.
https://www.mailplus.co.uk/briefings...o#article-3686
It now appears that it was just over 9,000 and some 20% were duplicates so 7.5k tests.

Update: Althought the first case in Germany was at the same time as the first case in the UK, Germany figures now show that those testing positive have doubled in number and the number of deaths have tripled.

Yes, that will be because of their extensive testing. We aren't even fully testing front line workers. Germany 71921 cases to our 25150.
Within the past few hours, according to the FT, the German death rate is much lower. 781 compared to our 1789.
You expect Germany to have many more cases, seeing as they've got around 15m more people. You'd expect many more deaths too. Testing extends knowledge and evidently allows countries to take action on the results.

Not only has Germany far, far exceeded us in testing but as it has double our number of critical care beds those who do catch it have a somewhat better chance of survival.
The biggest manufacturer of ventilators is German.
Culturally Germans are more likely to respond to directions to isolate than us. And they have had clear, calm competent leadership.
So of course the sooner we detach from them the better.

We only count those who have died in hospital and have had a positive test, It's published that Liverpool had 1 death, 2 elderly people died on Sunday and Tuesday It's still 1, Mayor Joe says he knows of at least 7 others not included.

Maybe. I don't know, to be honest. I don't think any country is giving the true figures, because I don't think any of them really know. There are estimates that a full third of this country either has it or has had it.
I know that we had the same timeline as Germany as far as being aware of what was going on is concerned. They reacted far more quickly on the testing front than we did. But the numbers of individuals contracting it is anyone's guess.
I reckon we all know or have been in contact with someone with the virus. Just that fortunately either we or they have got over it fairly easily. I know an awful lot of people who've had unusual coughs or bad chests, even for the time of year. And an awful lot who've had a cough / bad chest, thought they'd got over it, and then it all starts up again. Then when you hear you can be reinfected, it makes you wonder.
