Wherda & Foo-Karthy, metasesarma aubryi (red apple crabs) video
These little land crabs spend an much of their time in hiding, so if you haven't already guessed why I chose such strange names for them, I'm sure you can now figure it out

This one is Cedric, a cardisoma armatum (commonly known as a rainbow crab)
He is replenishing himself by eating one of his own legs from his old, cast off exoskeleton.

Thank you! When they do come out of hiding and start exploring, the crabs are absolutely enchanting little creatures. However, they are not a good pet at all for anyone who likes to be 'hands-on' with their animals, or like to be constantly entertained. I've got loads of patience and I'm happy to wait. I find the reward of seeing them, under their terms more than makes up for the days and days of 'nothing'.
They really are beautiful.

That's my favourite part too Whippy! They all seem to do that, stretch out as much as they can. I think it is possibly to do with preparing for a moult, loosening their joints and preparing for when they have to fully detach from their old body. Not seen any scholarly articles about this though, it is only a guess which could be totally wrong

Moulting
A bit like when Doctor Who regenerates....leave the old body behind and walk out with a new one
