Avon skin so soft is brilliant as a bug repellent, don't know what's in it but it works.

    Australians swear by Vegemite.

    Common natural insect repellents

Birch tree bark is traditionally made into tar. Combined with another oil (e.g., fish oil) at 1/2 dilution, it is then applied to the skin for repelling mosquitos
    Bog Myrtle (Myrica Gale)
Catnip oil whose active compound is Nepetalactone
    Citronella oil
Essential oil of the lemon eucalyptus (Corymbia citriodora) and its active compound p-menthane-3,8-diol (PMD)
    Neem oil
    Lemongrass
Tea tree oil from the leaves of Melaleuca alternifolia
    Tobacco

Me too. But it's a problem when the huntsmans leg span won't fit in the tumbler. Just have to pick it up.

It's not that difficult. Just pick it up between thumb and forefinger, carry it into the garden and let it go. They're harmless beautiful little creatures.

I quite often get a bumble bee in my hot, hot, hot utility room- exhausted in the 50*C+ temperature. Fine for drying clothes but not much else!
I take them into the kitchen and put them near to a small puddle of water with glucose dissolved in it.
It is lovely to see their proboscis extend into the liquid and watch them drink it and revive. I then take them outside and put them onto a flowering shrub of some sort while they recover their strength and then go about their bumble bee business.
