As a child, Rosemary was unable to keep up with her siblings, who would often play ball in the yard, or run around the neighborhood. Her lack of inclusion often caused “fits,” which were later discovered to be seizures or episodes relating to her mental illness.

I know the story - but I did not know if anyone else on the site did. It is an interesting story -but so very sad when people put fame before family.

True, but then it's not uncommon sadly. George V and Queen Mary did something similar with the epileptic Prince John.

What a very sad story and it makes you wonder about such 'treatments' electric shock therapy being another very frightening area of medicine, thankfully long since gone.

I met up with someone who was undergoing such treatment - scary? I t sounded horrific - and what is more - it did nothing to 'cure' anything!
