The blight of the boy racers

    Hi, all.

An interesting article has been published this afternoon on the Sky News website, now yes, I know Sky News are a bit 'loose' on occasion, but I am totally in favour of this beat of their rattly-drum!

The promenade and sea front areas of an evening are absolutely ruined by the noise created by the boy racers.

I live just off Eastbank St., and do hear the lone biker, with loud exhaust, zooming up the road. There's also the souped up cars.

Thought the idea of a noise camera, on the news this week, would get lots of bikes on Eastbank St.

I live next to the Coastal Road and on a sunny day it's like being at a British Superbikes meeting. I don't really mind but my neighbours don't like the noise. I ride a bike but my exhaust is unmodified.
    Take care out there

I guess that is why they are called ' boy' racers.

We get them on the 2 long straight roads near where I live in the early hours of the morning.

Any exhaust pipe from a car should have Maximum decibel rating put on them, because some of these Hedgehog Cars are that loud, and slow off the line, and most can be heard from hundreds of yards away, they are that loud.

Why would anyone want to make so much noise,as to wake a person, either living or dead in some cases baffles me,if you excuse the pun.As most of these cars are old Corsa;s or Fiestas, and they sound bloody awful when accelerating away too fast from a standing start.

Boy racers are one thing - boy racers who are high on illegal drugs are extremely dangerous. Couple of weeks ago I was waiting in Upper Aughton Road to be picked up from a job. It was around 7pm in the evening and still light. I saw two women crossing an almost empty road at the same time heard one of these boy racer cars heading up from the roundabout near the Blundell Arms. They suddenly sped up to around 100mph and literally moved from the centre of the road and aimed directly at the two women crossing. Luckily, the women moved fast. There were two occupants in the car, whooping as they sped past the women and continued down Aughton Road (20mph limit) at the same 100mph speed, turning left at the bottom of the road. No, I did not get the number plate - they were moving far too fast. The car was either a Hyundai or Toyota and dark grey in colour.

Another motorist, well known for her stupid antics locally - drives a cheap blue car with green wheels. She has been seen to cut up other cars, tailgating impatiently, overtaking on the inside at speed, and taking blind corners at speed. Another accident waiting to happen!

These drivers should not be on the road - only people who know how to drive should be.
