I don't think that has changed. You always got your ticket when you entered and paid when you left, using that ticket.

Used this car park this morning and was struggling with my shopping and one of the young lads came to my rescue what a lovely young man he was I think his name was Steve

Yes. It has changed. I used it yesterday and ended up booking online but there is no barrier there now. You have to park up, go the to pay station, pay for the length of time you want to stay and keep the ticket as a receipt. You don't pay when you leave as you used to.
