How do i keep my name and address private
Recently we have had numerous letters from Political parties and other sources. As far as I am aware on the Electoral Role I ticked the box stating that I did not my details disclosed.
Can anyone inform me how to keep my details private
It has been said that when helping people change their behaviour – “the spirit in which help is offered” is the most important aspect, more than the degree of skills and knowledge of the helper!

Name and address
I think that once you're on the Electoral Roll there's no option to keep anything private.,

There is an option to tick on the registration form as to whether you want to be on the full register or not which is available to companies to purchase, trouble is if you don't you may have trouble with credit checks etc as they use the Electoral Roll.

Credit checks are carried out through the electoral roll, if you opt out to be on the open register (this is what is bought by companies) it won't prevent credit checks taking place.

Political parties have automatic access to the full register.

So did I and still received lots of junk and unwanted calls. I traced a few of the contacts and found that the source was BT. Evidently, BT sell customers contact details to third parties.

Unless you tick (or untick, read boxes carefully) most companies sell on your details. A few years ago I started receiving junk mail with my postcode slightly wrong, I then noticed my bank statements from RBS had the same error, made enquiries and they had sold on details to 'carefully selected' parties.

Which brings to mind that charming saying: "share with trusted partners".
