    Good Quality Clothing - Fashion

Would you pay out more for better quality clothing with a tailored fit, or do you prefer to buy throw away 'one size fits all' clothing?

Do you agree that looking smart is essential for public facing work? Or does it no longer matter?

In my dotage I am not as fussy as I used to be, made to measure suits and casual jackets along with named shirts and leather shoes were my choice. Now I couldn't be bothered I recently bought an off the peg suit at Debenhams that frankly was as good a fit as a made to measure suit but I did buy a named brand of shirt to go with it.

Then I guess you must be one of the lucky ones where the size the store stocks fits you. A huge number of people are not. I like a good quality material and a tailored fit - so I am not keen on the gear that is sold now. There really is not a decent Men's clothes shop anywhere, as you have discovered. Anyway - you kept up some standards, you did get a branded shirt!

Well Debenhams sell suits as separates so you find a jacket that fits and then get the trousers that fit and match obviously. With a 56" chest the jacket is the main thing to get right. For about 3 hundred quid you can get a well fitting suit, good shirts, tie and shoes.

I think I spend £100 to £200 max a year on clothes, mainly Primarni. I don't go out much.

Actually personally less than that as get bought clothes at Birthdays and Christmas.

I've never been a brand person, wouldn't dream of buying Levi's or any other designer brand jeans this goes for all my clothes, most of mine are Tesco or Sainsbury and the odd Next shirt this said my suit is Next.

I will look in the sale and if it is a genuine bargain will buy a brand, I bought a Jasper Conran jacket form Debenhams a couple of years ago as it was half price then half price again so was at a similar price to what I could get in previous mentioned shops.

T.K Maxx is too much like a jumble sale

I did buy a suit from there once. I was in a hell of a rush to get a suit for a wedding, and that was the only store where I could purchase immediately. (Generally, I have to order and wait for items to be sent) Got a fair fit, I must admit. Two days later, after work I got on a plane and flew over to Italy for the wedding. To get to the district I wanted I had to catch a train in Italy, where I fell asleep. I arrived at the Hotel for the venue, went straight to my room and woke up on the morning of the wedding. While everyone else was getting dressed up - I was frantically searching for my suit. One of the other guests drove me back to the station to see if it had been left on the train - no joy. I went to the wedding, the only person dressed in slacks and a shirt. It would appear that Debenham's suits are highly valued - since it appeared that I had been robbed some time during the train journey.

I don't suppose that since you receive clothes as presents, both for your Birthday and for Christmas - that someone may be sending you a hint of some sort?
