Assume you're meaning traffic-free rides? If so, I'd recommend the River Ribble section of Preston Guild Wheel.

Park-up/start on Morrisons car park at Preston Docklands. Ride West alongside the dock and past the marina. Go left at the end, following the blue GW signage over the swing-bridge and onto the GW path heading East alongside the river. Cross busy A-road at end (push-button crossing here) and keep following the GW blue signage, it will take you under railway arches and along edge of Avenham Park (café here).

Continue on GW, crossing very busy A-road at end (toucan crossing). Keep to GW and you'll pass under M6 opposite Tickled Trout, finally arriving at Brockholes nature reserve. There's a large café, gift shops etc on far side of lake. Then return same way you came, I'd guess about 8 to 10 miles round trip, almost all is on flat terrain/traffic-free tarmac.

    You're more than welcome......

I tend to do the whole 'Wheel' (21miles) in a clockwise direction from Docklands. My best time is 2hrs 20mins - not including café stops . But when I've got the legs, I'll branch off it Northwards, going via Roseacre, Gt Ecclestone, Elswick, crossing the Wyre at tollbridge (bikes 20p!). Then back via St Micheals, Catforth, etc, to rejoin the 'Wheel' - phew!

N.B. Blackpool Prom is also a great cycle-friendly route....Park somewhere in vicinity of Squires Gate station, amongst the houses. Join Prom adjacent to the tram turn-around and you're looking at traffic-free riding right through B'pool, Cleveleys, Rossall, terminating at Fleetwood.

If the tides are right, it's worth taking the ferry to Knott End (good café at top of Knott End slipway with a suntrap tea-garden at rear ). Return to Squires Gate by new-type tram (fold bikes before boarding). Tramstop is adjacent to ferry on F'wood side.

For a nice and easy scenic ride :

One car, two bikes and three people!

Drive to the top of Snake Pass, two cyclists 'cruise' back down the pass and are met at the bottom by the third person who drives the car :-)

A week before the Lights Switch On they usually have a 'Ride the Lights' night were they close the road to vehicles.

    Thank you.
We were thinking of doing the Salford looplines as they can be done in shorter bites.

Southport to Crosby is a nice ride, a bit of it is in traffic, but most is not. When you reach Crosby you can cycle along the promenade. Lovely ride and beautiful views. Crsoby Circular 4.5 miles

The Wirral Peninsular route, almost all flat, lovely views. 5 miles.

Otterspool Circular - lovely views. 7.5 miles

Preston Guild Wheel is a circular ride around the town of Preston 21 miles.

    Anglezarke circular 5 miles

Lancaster to Seattle 31 miles and many more shorter or longer routes - depending on how fit you feel.

Great scenic ride, but not for everyone - as there are some steep uphill bits. Forms part of the 'Way of the Roses', a quite outstanding coast to coast waymarked route from Morecambe to Bridlington....170miles on mainly quiet country lanes, with fine views - took me five days to complete.

If preference is more for a pleasant half-day out on flatter terrain, I'd strongly suggest sampling the first several miles i.e. Morecambe to Crook O'Lune. You'll be riding almost entirely on good quality traffic-free tarmac, much of it alongside the river on a former railway.
