Anna Sacoolas
It has emerged that a US diplomats wife is accused of killing a 19 yr old man several months ago by driving on the wrong side of the road in the UK.
She was asked by police to remain in this country while the investigation took place and promised she would do so and yet skipped the country on a US military airplane that night claiming diplomatic immunity.
However, a judge ruled on a case a few years back & stated that diplomatic immunity should not be given in circumstances whereby any incident is not due to the work of the diplomat and that their family can only be protected if any incident is in connection with the reason for the diplomat to be working in a foreign country.
So why the hell was she allowed do a runner?

Always presume a person is innocent until proven guilty, but this running away seems like an admission of guilt to me.
I doubt very much if diplomatic immunity will be revoked. Even without such immunity American citizens are rarely extradicted to a country where they face charges.
I am not a fan of social media but in this case I feel it might serve a purpose.... name and shame.
Kudos to the bereaved parents for dignity and forgivness in the face of such a tragedy. If it was me I would be railing against the injustice of it all. They say they might be going to America. Good on them. Bring her name into the public consciousness and let them judge her actions. That's as close as they will get to closure, I fear.

I'm with joan on this. It's disgusting that she fled. Any doubt about her guilt has disappeared with that action, IMO. But I don't think she'll be forced back here to face action.
She damned well should, if only to try and give a little peace of mind to that poor family, if that is at all possible. But I don't see it happening.
I understand why diplomatic immunity has to exist. But in situations like this, which has nothing to do with relations between the two countries, immunity should be waived.

I was passing a newpaper stand earlier today and they were saying she has a previous conviction in the USA for the US equivalent of driving without due care and attention.
I can't remember which paper it was - one of the red tops.

Reminds of April last year on Majorca, when a female Porsche driver (on wrong side of road) ploughed into a group of nine cycling professionals out on a training ride......Apparently she was under the influence of drugs at the time - as failed roadside drugs test.

And that has what to do with a person escaping trial due to diplomatic immunity? Oh yes, sod all!
Turns out, the woman's husband doesn't even hold diplomatic status!

In that case it should be easy to extradite her.

He is now stating to be in 'intelligence' hence there being no record of him being a diplomat as his work is s ecret.
She, on the other hand, has previously been convicted of driving offences in Virginia, something similar to driving without due care and attention normally pertaining to driving whilst using a mobile phone.

Drug taking is rife in your sport.

The very fact that the US embassy in London refused to issue an immunity waiver, and has since stated that waivers are rarely issued, points to no inclination to see that this woman should answer to her crime. Trump, Pompeo et al will make the usual comforting noises, and do nothing.
I see that nobody knows the current whereabouts of Anne Sacoolas. The Sacoolas family might well have been placed in hiding through something similar to the witness protection programme. If so, that tells you everything you need to know about the amoral officials in the US.
How this woman could have killed a young man and fled back to her home country is beyond me. Her actions are unconscionable. If she isn't made to face the legal consequences, I hope it haunts her throughout her life. Diplomatic immunity, or whatever immunity a country offers those who work in other branches of government, should not apply when someone is killed, intentionally or otherwise.

I was reminded about similarities of the accident itself...
1) Both were up-market cars driven on wrong side of road.
2) Both cases victim/s vulnerable i.e. on two wheels.
3) Perpetrators both female likely on drugs and/or alcohol.
4) Critical injuries and/or death the outcome in both cases.
As for this bad woman doing a runner....I'd support extradition and suitable punishment for dangerous driving. Might or might not be possible to get her on that charge though, but careless driving would be very hard to get out of.

Government has announced that she DOESN'T have diplomatic immunity, so if they can find an offence that is covered by the extradition treaty it should be straightforward to extradite her.
